October 2013

It is now time to get into the swing for the Oxtoberfest, October 12th and 13th. We need people to volunteer for shifts to take money and help serve the sandwitches.

Please contact Amy or Tom Blair to take a slot. This is our main fundraiser for the Chamber, so please call and sign up. Shifts available: Saturday and Sunday 9:30-1:00, 1:00-4:30 and 4:30-8:00.

The joint meeting with the regular Chamber and the Economic Development committee – presentation of the new webpage with Gabe Arnold – was great. I think the new website will be a great tool for all of us to use to benefit all of our businesses.

The Scarecrows should be out now. September 20th was the date to put them out. On that Friday we had people from Cleveland come out to see them. They saw the ad in the county magazine and were disappointed that there were only a few up; so next year, can we have all of them out for the “Grand Return of the Scarecrows” on time please.

Thanks to Greg Tarr from Chow Down for the buffet at the Kent State Geauga meeting also.

Dave Kleve has put together this meeting for the candidates and issues for the upcoming election. Thank you Dave.

Everyone come and listen to the upcoming election candidates. They will have a few minutes each to talk about their campaigns. Questions can be asked of them after everyone has spoken.

Also at this time, if anyone wants to be on the board, please let us know. There will be a few openings. Please see one of the board members if you are interested.

November 5, 2013 he turns the young age of 100 years.

An invitation to attend is attached at the end of this newsletter.

Thank you from Sue Wayman, President BCOC

Early renewal is an option Anthem is making available to small group employers in advance of the coming health care reform. This option allows employers to modify their current renewal cycle, moving their renewal from the month of their Original Effective Date to December 1, 2013. We understand that health care reform will generate many questions for employers. The early renewal option allows interested employers and their brokers the time to navigate the changes brought on by health care reform and figure out the best plan and cost options.

This is a great way to help keep your business running smoothly while securing your benefits and costs during this time of change. Here’s how it will work:

Anthem new clients with effective dates of August 1, 2013 – November 1, 2013 can renew effective December 1, 2013. Changes in risk factor, base rate and/or demographic adjustments and benefit changes may apply.

Anthem Specialty coverage renewal dates will change too. That means any Anthem dental, vision, disability and life plans you have will be changed to match your new medical renewal date.

Changing your renewal date allows you to:

  • Lock in your current benefits a little longer
  • Keep your plan stable during changing times
  • Focus on running your business and leading your company
  • Align your medical and Anthem Specialty coverage renewal dates

To change your renewal date or for more information please contact your broker or Anthem sales representative.

This information is brought to you through collaboration between your chamber, NOACC and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield
