It is maple sugaring time again! We are having the 5th Annual Tree Tapping Ceremony 10:00-4:00 at the Burton Log Cabin & Sugar Camp on Saturday, February 16. This is the unofficial start of the sugaring season in Pancake Town USA and Geauga County. This is a great time for the entire family to see how maple syrup is made. This is a hands-on event. The Chamber does the first tap, then you get a spiel, bucket, lid, and drill into a tree. In the cabin there will be candy demonstrations and maple stirs (11-2).
Anyone that would like to help collect sap please let Amy know 834-4204.
All you can eat pancakes will be at the Berkshire High School, put on by the Burton/Middlefield Rotary. They also have omelets.
There will also be apple and blueberry pancakes at Century Village Museum.
And pancakes at the Burton Fire Dept and American Legion.
Please see the newspapers for detailed times and menu options.
This is also the time for the Maple Madness driving tour sponsored by the Ohio Maple Producers Association. (March 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th) There are 42 stops on the tour and, of course, the cabin is one of the hub stops. Visit the website for details. www.ohiomaple.org
If you were not at the January meeting, Chuck White gave a very nice talk on his Newbury Business Park.
Anyone who would like to speak at one of our meetings about their business, please call Marie Lovas at 440-834-1386.
